I do other things -- voluntary charity work -- but I'm also giving myself a chance to get all the selfishness I can out of my system while I have time. Nothing helpful, at any rate.

Somebody should write a book for "How to find purpose/direction when you've accomplished all your non-family-related life goals and feel like you've been putting off adulthood for 10y, but not on purpose"; that's what I've been needing recently. Fortunately, this year's theater project has filled some of that gap!Claire Christinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00356741555403954008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7738564385955889206.post-14834151577193889302016-05-23T10:47:13.470-07:002016-05-23T10:47:13.470-07:00Oh dear. lol. Have you seen that book about weathering single life as a Catholic written by someone who I believe was single well into her late 30s?Melissa Ceciliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14093144784715438143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7738564385955889206.post-43110295624680872342016-05-23T08:13:22.660-07:002016-05-23T08:13:22.660-07:00Heh, one of my college friends texts me every now ...Heh, one of my college friends texts me every now and again with the most ridiculous/obnoxious well-meaning comments fro family, friends, acquaintances. She suggested compiling the best ones into a book! (Which is a hilarious idea, but one that I let go of because it got pretty bitter-feeling pretty fast.) Glad you're weathering the storm well. :)Claire Christinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00356741555403954008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7738564385955889206.post-78653818329923649672016-05-19T18:59:49.087-07:002016-05-19T18:59:49.087-07:00Yes!! On the flip side, a friend struggling with infertility for years can hurt when people ask when she'll have children. This line in particular jumped out at me: " I'm saying that I quit trying to make things happen because I've unconsciously let the comments get to me."-->Good for you!!!
I think it is so easy to do this in any vocation. As someone who was not pregnant until over 2 years into marriage, it could be really tempting, at times, to let all of the well-meaning (but quite inappropriate) comments and questions from others about children/family size get to me in a bad way.I found that it really is so much better to focus on living out whatever vocation you are at peace in and not try to meet the expectations of others. It's still much easier said than done, though :P AnneMariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13462442204217572325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7738564385955889206.post-43288706463103367732016-05-19T15:13:33.341-07:002016-05-19T15:13:33.341-07:00Thank you, Meet You in Galilee!! :DThank you, Meet You in Galilee!! :DMelissa Ceciliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14093144784715438143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7738564385955889206.post-35624842292685826312016-05-19T14:47:53.141-07:002016-05-19T14:47:53.141-07:00I admire how content you are being single.
